The Custodian will maintain Tribal housekeeping services in the facilities as assigned. Their primary role is to keep the buildings clean and safe. The custodian will be working directly with cleaning soaps, chemicals and other supplies and equipment.
- Maintain the general cleaning of tribal buildings, both internal and external.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms on a daily basis. Refill soap and towel dispensers as needed.
- Clean, dust and wipe furniture, walls, and light fixtures daily. Use of ladders when required in work assignments.
- Sweep, mop and vacuum daily. Empty waste basket and trash container daily.
- Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure buildings when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights.
- Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as needed for cleaning purposes.
- Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds. Launder cleaning rags and dust mops. Ensure proper care with mops and buckets for extended life use.
- Have essential physical and mental capabilities in the following: interpersonal skills, attention to details, follow directions, comprehension, calculating, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, organizing and innovation.
- Handle emergencies, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Three to twelve months of experience.
- No requirement for a degree, but a high school diploma is preferable.
- Must be able to follow directions with limited supervision.
- Excellent communication skills are required.
- Person must be willing to perform possible travel within the service area.
- A valid NC Driver’s License is required.
This position is subject to a criminal history background check, and a Motor Vehicle check. Candidates must successfully pass all required background checks in order to qualify for this position.
